Switch
A switch joins or separates two contacts. Closed contacts make a conducting path; open contacts leave a gap.
Closed means connected. Open means a gap — like a drawbridge lifted above the river.
The fountain in SparkVille’s square gives a daily concert. The caretaker closes the switch, the pump starts, and the water jets dance. After the show, the switch is opened: current stops flowing and the fountain falls silent.
