Potentiometer

A potentiometer has a resistive track and a movable contact called a wiper. Turning the knob moves the wiper along the track.

It has three connections. A circuit can use it as a voltage divider, or use the wiper and one end as an adjustable resistance.

The radio keeper turns a potentiometer to make the town broadcast quieter or louder.
